Loreto Pelayo
Hailing from Belize City, Loreto Pelayo is a dedicated young guitarist whose early exposure to instrumental music through video games ignited a lifelong passion. This initial spark propelled him to learn piano and subsequently, the guitar. A pivotal moment arrived with his introduction to jazz, which instilled in him a fervent desire to deeply understand and authentically share this rich musical tradition within Belize. Loreto is committed to continuous growth, undertaking lessons with the acclaimed and Grammy-winning guitarist, Pasquale Grasso. He actively seeks out opportunities for immersion in the jazz cultures of New York City and Philadelphia, attending performances by his musical heroes and pursuing private instruction to further hone his skills. His artistic palette is broad, reflecting influences from the foundational giants of jazz like Bud Powell and Wes Montgomery, to the innovative contemporary stylings of artists such as Julian Lage.
